This treatment of modern algebra is a work in progress. New sections are being added from time to time, and existing parts are being polished.

Because most browsers don't show italics very clearly, blue characters are being used in most places where italics would be typically used in mathematical works.

Mathematics uses many symbols not in standard typefaces. Small graphics have been used for most of them. In other cases, alternative symbols that are in standard typefaces have been substituted.
